We are in the midst of the 3 weeks .The Three Weeks is an annual mourning period that falls out in the summer. This is when we mourn the destruction of the Holy Temple and our launch into a still-ongoing exile. With an eye to the future, we also learn about the Third Temple, which is yet to be built.


The period begins on the 17th of the Hebrew month of Tammuz, a fast day that marks the day when the walls of Jerusalem were breached by the Romans in 69 CE.It reaches its climax and concludes with the fast of the 9th of Av, the date when both Holy Temples were set aflame.


This is the saddest day of the Jewish calendar .


There is no better time than now as we pray for peace and pray for our brothers and sisters to be returned to their loved ones  as we  yearn for the temple to be rebuilt and for our Geulah  to focus on  pray for and remember Jerusalem .

Jerusalem set a record in 2023 for approving urban renewal projects +- 4,400 housing units were approved in 19 projects. In Total Jerusalem issued permits for 7,482 housing units an unprecedented number in the city's history.


It's expected that over 8000 permits will be issued in 2024. In the last 3 years permits were given to build about 20,000 housing units in the city. Roi Lavie the head of the planning department at the Jerusalem Municipality stated " urban renewal process are community processes " As Israel's capital , Jerusalem needs to grow address its natural growth , and allow residents to live in it its excepted by 20240 that Jerusalem will have 1,700,000 + residents.


Significant construction projects include. Entrance district The new business district of Israel the entrance to Jerusalem has changed dramatically  in recent years the entrance district is being developed  as a leading new business district. Boasting a high speed electric train able to transport passengers from Jerusalem to Tel Aviv in 28 Minutes. Light rail lines a central bus station , underground parking and so much more.


The entrance district project includes about 1.5 Million square meters of new construction - 650,000 meters for employment , 200,000 square meters for hotels, 100,000 square meters for public cultural use 100,000 square meters for residences 72,000 square meters for commerce 70,000 square meters for rental housing 25,000 square meters for sheltered housing about 20 new towers of 18-40 stories will be built in the district .


The project recently received international green building standard ( LEED ND ) the first of its kind for a neighborhood in  Israel. The completion of the entrance district project will provide 60,000 new jobs for Israel's Capital.


Begin Road 

Due to a lack of available land in the city and the desire to use and optimize  existing land without spreading into open areas the municipality is promoting a unique and advanced project . It will create new land reserves by utilizing uneven heights Begin Road will convert the upper part into Residential neighborhood and a large park for residents creating a continuum from the Wolfson Interchange in the North to the Beit Interchange ( Givat Mordechai ) in the South.


This will connect the Beit Kerem neighborhood and the National district .The area will include parks and open green spaces , including residential areas , hotels , commerce public buildings and mix use development to work live and play with an emphasis on high tech and knowledge intensive industries .


The project will add an additional 2000 housing units , 250 sheltered housing units 300 hotel rooms , 10,000 square meters for commerce . The project has been approved by the district committee.


Talpiot

The Talpiot district will undergo significant changes in the coming years becoming an innovative and developed urban center. Talpiots master plan is one of the most important strategic moves the city has known .


The industrial area in the neighborhood one of the city's  oldest industrial zones where shops and garages operate alongside each other  will change its face in the near future . Talpiot will become a magnet for entrepreneurs from across the country and the city.


The plan includes 1.3 Million square meters for commercial and employment use with an emphasis on knowledge intensive industries , public buildings cultural open spaces and about 8500 new housing units to meet the needs of the future population.


The plan includes building kindergartens , schools, health and sports buildings , cultural and leisure centers open spaces , tree lined boulevards and additional green public spaces. The plan incudes a comprehensive transportation section to support increased traffic  connecting light rail to the intercity train lines will make Talpiot accessible to residents across the country.


Currently works are underway to prepare the Pierre Koenig parking lot alongside continued promotion of construction plans in the complex such as the Shufersal complex the Israel brothers mall and other areas in the region.


The high tech capital of Israel 

Alongside the infrastructure revolution in Jerusalem and urban renewal  the municipality is working on developing commercial , employment and hotel areas. More than 660 High tech companies operate in the city employing 20,000 workers In recent years Jerusalem has been selected several times as one of the leading ecosystems including one of the top 10 cities in the life sciences fields .


The municipality led by Mayor Moshe Leon sees great importance in creating quality employment opportunities both as a source of employment for city residences and the surrounding areas and as a magnet for high-quality populations from outside the city.
